Scouts from Pack 996 helped transport and sort clothes from lost and founds from all the schools in the district. Clothes and items were to be donated to charity.

2017 Pack Picnic
Our pack had a great time at our annual picnic where we presented the rank badges to our Scouts, ate great food, and had fun playing games. This year we had a Mad Science show where kids learned a lot about science while having lots of fun! New tigers! New wolves! New bears! New Webelos Is! New Webelos IIs!

2017 Spring Campout
Scouts had a blast at our 2 night spring campout at Anthony Chabot Regional Park. We had 2 campfire programs, a morning hike (with a geocache find!), bottle rockets, field games, and FISHING. No one caught any fish, but what they did catch was a lot of fun and a great experience!

May Pack Meeting
What a great finish for the last pack meeting for the year! We tested the strength of the bridges each den made with just popsicle sticks and regular white glue! Thank you to our tiger dens 2, 3 & 15 for hosting the meeting with flag ceremony, pledge of allegiance, scout law and fun jokes and skit! The bridges are getting stronger and stronger just like our scouts! Scouts enjoyed cheering and experienced nerve racking emotions when their bridge is tested!

Bhudda Gate Monastery
Wow! What an experience of learning to find our inner self for our pack 996! The Scouts, parents, and siblings got enlightened at the Buddha gate monastery in Lafayette today! A great turn out of over 70 people including Scouts and their families. Scouts experienced practicing meditation (including calm and insight), mindfulness, the cultivation of wisdom, loving-kindness and compassion. Most importantly they learned to be mindful of their food helpings, cherish the blessing of food, and not to waste even a single grain of rice. They learned to respect each other’s beliefs and culture.

2017 Earth Day – School Clean Up
Happy ? day! Every human being has the responsibility to care for our earth so she can nurture our children. We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors. We borrow it from our children. The Scouts (girls and Cub scouts) collaboratively showed that they care for the environment and Mother Earth by weeding and collecting trash in and around their elementary school! 2017 Earth Day – Walking School Bus
Happy Earth Day! Pack 996 organized the walking school bus for Quail Run Elementary! It motivated students to walk everyday, reduce pollution, and keep our earth clean! Approximately 80 students and Scouts participated in the event! Way to go pack 996! Thank you to all the parents and scout leaders for your support!

Our Bear dens 5 and 11 treated the pack to games in the 2017 Pack 996 Carnival. Bear Scouts led the games they designed and gave prizes to the winners. Great job Bears!

2017 Spring Overnighter at the Oakland Zoo
12 Pack 996 Scouts stayed overnight at the Oakland Zoo where they went behind the scenes at night in the zoo. They then met a lizard and a ferret. They capped off the night with an yummy and healthy snacks. The next morning they had breakfast and went on an adventure in a nearby creek. Scouts finished off the event with a free entry into the zoo!

Muslim Community Center Visit and Hike
Pack 996 took a short hike and visited a Muslim Community Center. There, Scouts, parents, and siblings watched a prayer session, had lunch, took a tour, and learned about the Muslim religion. Later, Scouts played at the park.
