After 3 years hiatus, we finally had our Fall Campout. Approximately 100 cub scouts, parents, and siblings attended this very fun event at Sugar Loaf Open Space in Walnut Creek. Leading up to this highly anticipated weekend, parents plan meals and games for everyone to enjoy. Everyone arrived Saturday afternoon, in their cars packed with camping equipment. Once settled, we started with games, planned by Mr. Corey. Everyone enjoyed the Human Foosball immensely. Kids and adults were also curious to see how rubber bands could cause pumpkins to explode. Younger siblings were also able to join in the fun, in games such as Chicken and Hawk. We also had a chance to see how Flag Ceremony in the outdoors differ from our usual indoor ones.
After an intense games session, parents started to get food ready for dinner, led by Mr. Edwin & Ms. Prathi. Dinner was Mexican food and there were tons of delicious items on the menu, such as beef stew, grilled corn salad, and shredded chicken. There were so much food, everyone was able to get seconds, even thirds. Nothing beats good food, especially when the weather is cold! After dinner, the AOL scouts, led by Aiden, learned how to make monkeybread in a skillet. Everyone had a chance to taste what they made–yummy, warm bread with crunchy bottom! S’mores and hot cocoa were served and everyone happily took their shares.
Next up was the highly anticipated campfire program. It was not only the scouts doing the skits and jokes, some parents also sang! There were lots of laughters. It was definitely a night to remember.
After breakfast the next morning, we hiked around the campground. It was a 30-minute hike and the weather was perfect. Scouts and parents were able to take photos of the nice views around us. We packed up once we got back to the campground. Scouts did a camp sweep to make sure there were no trash left behind. All around, kids and adults commented on how they enjoyed this camp.
Thanks to everyone who helped and contributed. Looking forward to more campouts in the future!
