Hidden Valley Park
Albion Road, San Ramon, CA 94582

Distance: About 2.4 miles with approximately 400 ft elevation

What to bring?
Backpack, first aid kit, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water, snacks
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes!

Our first pack hike of the year was a success! It was a good workout for both parents and kids and the kids got to play at the playground after. Katy spotted a Bigfoot print on the hill and Cubmaster James led us in singing “On Top Of The Mountain”. Missed the hike? Join us for our next one, coming up on Saturday, October 19!

Night Hike on Rolling Hills Trail

We had our first night hike of the year on Nov 20. We hiked from Dougherty Station library to Six Pillars park and back on the Rolling Hills trail. It was 3.6 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 220 ft. Mr Shane reviewed the safety guidelines for a night hike and then we were off. It was a nice cool evening for the hike. We reached the six pillars park and took a break. Scouts played on the play structures for a little bit and we hiked back. After the hike, we had a brief talk on roses, thorns and buds for the hike. Most of the scouts had roses like getting good exercise, a chance to meet their friends and being outside. They wanted more such hikes. Thanks to Mr Shane for organizing it. Looking forward to more such hikes planned by parent volunteers.

Pack Bike Hike along Iron Horse Trail

We had our annual bike hike, riding as a pack from San Ramon City Hall north along Iron Horse Trail. This is a great opportunity to get some exercise, but also to learn about road safety, rules of the road, and how to share a trail that is used by walkers, runners, and cyclists.

Officers from San Ramon Police Department joined us to talk through road safety, we then checked on our Six Essentials, before starting our hike. Some scouts made it all the way to downtown Danvile, while others stopped a bit sooner. We all returned to San Ramon City Hall safely while ensuring that we crossed major streets as a group and as safely as possible.

Night Hike at Las Trampas! Scouts and their families had a great time hiking at night to avoid the hot temperatures of the day. Along the way, we sang “The Littlest Bug” and found a Geocache! Thanks Will for organizing!

Muslim Community Center Visit and Hike

Pack 996 took a short hike and visited a Muslim Community Center. There, Scouts, parents, and siblings watched a prayer session, had lunch, took a tour, and learned about the Muslim religion. Later, Scouts played at the park.

November Hike – Black Diamond Mines

Aug Night Hike

Scouts took a short hike in their very own backyard in Windemere to Six Pillars Park. On the way back, the flashlights were brought out to shine our way back.

June Hike – Father’s Day

Fun was had by all on our Father’s Day Hike at Las Trampas in San Ramon.
